Start with your community
- Choose an interest. Consider food access, animals, libraries, education, housing, the environment or community events.
- Search near home. Enter your city on Idealist, or use Habitat’s ZIP code or state lookup below. Ask your library, parks department or local nonprofit about volunteer openings too.
- Find a manageable commitment. Ask about one-time events, short shifts, recurring roles or remote tasks. In smaller communities, try your county or a nearby town if travel works for you.
- Contact the coordinator. Confirm the role, current dates and the support you need before making plans.
