How Part B fits into Medicare

Original Medicare includes Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). Part B is a Medicare benefit, not a separate private insurance plan to shop for. Medicare Advantage is another way to receive Part A and Part B benefits. Medigap supplements eligible out-of-pocket costs in Original Medicare; it cannot supplement Medicare Advantage. For outpatient OT, Part B helps cover medically necessary services with required provider certification. Under Original Medicare, the usual share is 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after the Part B deductible; other coverage can change your costs. Source: Medicare outpatient OT coverage.
